This is an old revision of the document!

Step one: go to https://element.io/get-started to download the Element client for your platform.

Step two: Click 'Create account'

Step three: Make sure the 'Advanced' box remains selected.

Step four: fill out the remaining boxes, and click register. If you supplied an email address, click on the link in the sent email.

EVERYTHING BELOW THIS LINE IS OPTIONAL

Step five: Click on the down arrow next to your user name and click on 'Security & Privacy'

Step Six: Click on the 'Set up' button underneath the Encryption Secure Backup area

Step Seven: Select 'Enter a Security Phrase'

Step Eight: Enter a security passphrase

Step 9: Re-enter the Security Passphrase

Step 10: Download and save in a secure location your Security Key. Then click 'Continue'
